At most public swimming pools the hottest bodies tend to lounge around on deck chairs sipping drinks. But one English town wants to heat their pool with some even hotter bodies, the dead ones next door at the local crematorium.
The system will pipe the pool water underground to the crematorium next door, where it will run through a heat exchanger attached to the crematory.
Redditch council says the plan will save the town about $23,000, while providing a green source of heat for the pool water. While most community leaders agree that it makes sense from an ecological and financial angle, they're not sure how comfortable local residents will feel swimming in water heated by their late Grandma.
Personally, I think that Swiss pool which uses heat from a local computer data center is much less creepy.
