US Army tents are going solar to support increased gadget use

With a big chunk of our military out in places where the sun beats down all day, it makes perfect sense to harness some of that solar energy. To do this, the US Army is about to introduce three different solar panel systems for field use with their tents.

The Power Shade, TEMPER Fly, and QUADrant, all use photovoltaic solar panels built into the tent to deliver electricity, which can then be used to charge all of the electronic gadgets that today's soldiers rely on every day.

The power delivery ranges from 200 to an impressive 3000 watts per tent, and it's got to be a lot easier than lugging around a bunch of batteries for everything.
