Defense company steals future tank concept from the Batmobile

BAE Systems has released some wild concepts as part of their Future Protected Vehicle program. They're proposing tanks with levitating armor and vehicles that sweat, and there's one design that they got from Batman's Tumbler.

We're not just saying that BAE's unmanned 'Raider' concept kinda looks like the Dark Knight's ride, the company actually did use the movie as the basis for the Raider's design, according to program manager Hisham Awad:

'We liked the look of that, so we designed something similar. You see, it turns like a motorbike and it has the same wheel configuration. We decided that we didn't have a monopoly on inspiration, and if we saw something in a film that we thought might be a good idea, why not take a look at it and see if there's something practical we can develop?'

The rest of BAE's concept lineup includes features that are straight out of movies and video games as well. They're developing e-ink camouflage that will allow vehicles to blend in with their surroundings. They want vehicles to be able 'sweat' water from pores in their skin to help reduce their thermal signature, while also providing drinks for thirsty soldiers. And they're working on levitating armor plates that will lift off and hover above a vehicle to intercept incoming fire.
