It appears that size is really starting to matter when it comes to smartphones. Following hot on the heels of the huge Dell Streak, this new 4.8-inch Android powered monster from Acer, makes the iPhone's highly touted 3.5-inch retina display look kind of puny.
Resolution is a different matter however, and at 1024 x 480, the Acer's screen actually has fewer pixels than the iPhone's. Still, the yet to be named Acer seems well suited for multimedia applications, with LED backlighting, Dolby Mobile, a six-axis motion sensor for gaming, HDMI video output, and a 1-GHz Snapdragon processor powering it all.
Look for the giant Acer to show up in stores around April of next year. The price was not announced.
