It's one of those frustrating things about science: despite us living in such a tech-forward age, we still haven't discovered a cure for the common cold. But that might change in the very near future.
It's long been thought that once a virus gets inside a cell, that virus is safe from the body's immune defenses and can just go to town on you. But a team of researchers from the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge shows that anti-viral antibodies can actually enter the cell with the invading virus and take it out.
This could potentially help knock off legions of nasty virii such as the common cold, which would save thousands of lives and millions of sick days. Let's make it happen, science!
