Circuit board flip phone trumps smartphones with old school cool

Design-centric KDDI has unveiled a phone that offers an alternative to the trend of touchscreen smartphones, while losing none of the futuristic flavor we've come to expect from Japan.

Designed by Tokujin Yoshioka (the man behind edgy designs for BMW, Hermes, and Swarovski) the phone is called the X-RAY and remakes the now traditional flip-phone look by employing a translucent case, essentially making you look like you're holding a circuit board in your hand rather than a working phone. The company hasn't released pricing or sell date details, but the phone is feature-rich including an 8 megapixel camera, 1-Seg TV tuner, and a GSM radio.
