Buoyancy Bazooka launches a life preserver up to 150 meters

Having a life preserver on your boat is very important, obviously. But what if the person you're trying to keep afloat is further away than tossing distance from you? What then?

This buoyancy aid can launch a life ring up to 150 meters away, firing a condensed bullet of hyrdrophobic foam that expands in the water. It's a clever idea, one that won designer Samuel Adeloju $16,000 in the annual James Dyson Award for design. Look for it to start popping up on commercial boats in the not-too-distant future.
