Delivery robot could give every home its own rechargeable butler

Yet another update from the front lines of roboticists working to put more humans out of work comes in the form of the MKR-003, the autonomous, omnidirectional cart delivery robot.

Developed researchers at Keio University, the rechargeable robot pushes or drags attachable carts and navigates complex interiors using an external sensor array. Once the owner gives the robot a few manual delivery commands, the robot remembers the routes and creates a map for autonomous operation. Equipped with a camera and vocal feedback to announce its path, the robot could eventually become an integral part of hospitals and elderly facilities.
