Kindle DX upgraded, now costs less than the original Kindle

Amazon has just announced an update to its larger Kindle DX, the model with a 9.7-inch screen meant for textbooks and full-page PDF display.

The new model most notably features a black graphite finish, a change from the off-white finish that all previous Kindles have had. In addition, that big screen has been improved with 50% better contrast. You get these improvements for a lower price of $379, $20 less than what the original Kindle cost in fall 2007. Orders are starting now, and the new version will start shipping on July 7.
