How does a nuclear reactor work? This cutaway diagram of the No. 32 Windscale AGR reactor in Sellafield, U.K., gives a few clues.
The image, one of 23 in a collection of nuclear-reactor diagrams on Flickr, is from 1961, so presumably there have been a few upgrades since then, especially considering it was the site of Britain's worst nuclear accident in history. Seems every country has one of those, don't they?
