The one dealbreaking reason you shouldn't buy an HTC Evo 4G

Sure, the HTC Evo 4G smartphone has a bigger screen than the iPhone 4, it's completely sold out, and people were even waiting in line for it. It's running the mighty Android operating system, rocks super-fast WiMax mobile broadband, and is the most technologically advanced phone on the planet right now. Reading the initial reviews, we were all lusting after one. But then I heard one reason, the dealbreaker, the one factor that completely and immediately convinced me to forget about the HTC Evo, even with all its wondrous glories.

It's the battery life, stupid. We trust tech maven Michael Arrington, and this one sentence he wrote this morning completely turned us off to the HTC Evo 4G:

"This device routinely runs out of power while sitting on standby overnight next to my bed."

Game over. Any mobile phone that makes you feel like an electricity addict, constantly looking for your next power fix, burdened with a battery life that "isn't just bad, it's '90s laptop bad" as Arrington so aptly puts it, is an albatross I don't wish to wear around my neck. Go on, Mr. Arrington, expound upon your assertion of its paltry battery life:

"You aren't just charging this once a day. Or twice a day. You need to be thinking about your next power fix just about any time you are using it. I keep chargers at home, in my office, in my car, and an extra one to suck power from my laptop. That keeps it going, but it isn't fun."

Ouch. That does it — iPhone 4, here I come.
