One problem I've always had with Rock Band and Guitar Hero: the controllers never made me feel really rockin'. The plastic guitars were as bland as can be. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is looking to solve that problem with a redesign that'll have you excited to wield your mighty axe.
The new controllers (pictured above and below) are wireless and feature a rearrangement of their internals. All of the control components are now consolidated entirely into the neck of the guitar, as Activision plans to sell swappable guitar bases. There could be something even more exciting to come out of that, though — with the base being purely decorative, now you can smash away, just like Pete Townshend. Or more practically, instead of having to buy a whole new guitar when your controller breaks, you could just pick up a new neck for cheap.
No pricing on the controllers, which will most likely launch alongside the game toward the end of this year. The guitars will be backwards compatible with older versions of Guitar Hero.
