16 beautiful pixel sculptures show the world as an '80s video game

In an earlier life artist Shawn Smith must have been some kind of 1980s arcade-game designer, because that low-bit blocky view of the world has been translated into his beautiful animal sculptures.

Using flat two-dimensional images as a starting point, Shawn builds what he calls his "Re-things" using dyed blocks of wood. The size of the blocks determines the pixel density of the final piece, allowing him to "investigate the slippery intersection between the digital world and reality".

Personally, I just think they look cool.
