Walmart has gone and halved the price of the 16GB iPhone 3GS, announcing plans to sell Apple's touch-phone darling for a mere $97. That's exciting and all if you've been in the market for an iPhone recently, sure, but what could it mean?
Well, with Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (or WWDC) right around the corner — and keeping in mind that the company is most likely going to announce the successor to the iPhone 3GS — Walmart is probably trying to get rid of some inventory.
Does that mean you're being swindled? Not really. (Unless you consider the required two year contract with AT&T part of the trick, that is.) If you need the latest and greatest, then wait for June and see what Apple announces. If you just want an iPhone, though, a 16GB 3GS won't do you wrong.
