Long-overdue features of iPhone OS 4 revealed
Secrets are revealed with Apple's release of beta 3 of the upcoming iPhone OS 4.0, and we'll show you screen shots in the gallery below. The biggest surprise? The ability to transfer files from the iPhone to your computer. Damn. That's something the iPhone should have had on day one.
Another change is an easier way to close applications when using the iPhone OS 4.0's new multitasking capability. And iPad users will recognize Orientation Lock, handy for those times you're looking directly down on the iPhone when using it. Yes, I mean when you're reading on the toilet.
Update: Oh, and here's another surprise — there's a pretty good chance of 720p video shooting.

You still have to use iTunes to do this, but there you'll have the ability to do drag-and-drop transfers from iPhone to computer and back.
Shut down an app running in the background by pressing and holding an icon, and then you can close any apps that are running.
Too many touches required for this one: after you've activated the multitasking interface, swipe to the left and you'll see the orientation lock icon.
Also in the multitasking interface: widgets for iPod. Woo woo.
