The last time we saw the "little dog," we called him "cute." Now here he is nearly a year later, and as you can see, DARPA's experimental robot dog has gotten a lot more graceful, even over the rockiest of terrain. Now we can justifiably call him something between uncanny and scary.
Most of the time, this smart bot's lost his cable tail and gone wireless. And even though he's picking his way in a deliberate, slow fashion, his graceful movements are a huge improvement over last year's tentative, clumsy dogbot.
So what's next? Speed this up about 20x, scale it up to the size of his creepy "big dog" brother, and you have a formidable robot horse.
