Japan's new monster elevator can carry 80 people at a time

A new office building in Osaka, Japan features two dozen of the biggest elevators around, each one capable of carrying a whopping 80 people at a time. With windows overlooking the city, the 12-foot-wide, 9-foot-long and 8.5-foot-high boxes will be downright spacious when carrying just a handful of passengers.

The building in question features a huge Hankyu department store on the bottom and several floors of offices above, all sitting on top of one of Japan's largest train terminals. That all adds up to a whole lot of people coming and going every day, so they probably won't look as empty as the one in the photo above all too often.
