EKON concept car brings emoticon culture to the highways

With the EKON concept car, Germany-based designer Thomas Pinel envisions a future in which cars change shape, opacity and interact with drivers via fingerprint interface. Created with city dwellers in mind, the coupe is essentially one big display that transmits messages to other drivers and pedestrians to enhance safety and traffic communication.

The exact method of visual communication would be a set of emoticons that can be easily initialized from the driver's steering wheel. You can take a look at the conceptualization process here.
