Designed by Shin Yamashita, a student at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, the floor-mat-meets-furniture concept functions as everything from a mini-desk, to a chair, to a footrest--all adjustable according to your location in the home.

Because this is still in the concept phase, no pricing or release date are scheduled, but it wouldn't be surprising to see this futuristic take on Japan's traditional tatami mats become a very real, and popular addition to many homes.
