Light Peak to kill USB 3.0, take over the world, says Intel

A new way to hook up devices to your PC might be coming in 2011. We told you about Light Peak last Fall, but now Intel Senior Fellow Kevin Kahn is crowing about how his company's ultrafast connector for inside and outside PCs and Macs is so great, next year it could take over the world, or maybe even the entire universe. Well, almost. Said Kahn:

"We view this as a logical future successor to USB 3.0. In some sense[s] we'd... like to build the last cable you'll ever need."

Replies USB 3.0:

"You think USB 3.0 is going to die that easy? I'm backward compatible with USB 2.0, which is installed on almost every PC and Mac in the world! You've got Light Peak, but you don't have me. You were going to kill me, Kahn. You're going to have to come down here. You're going to have to come down here! KAAAHNNNN! KAAAHNNNN!"
