Step into the Anthropomorphic Test Device Laboratory at General Motors and meet the company's family of crash test dummies. This group of plastic people is getting into a lot of accidents lately, testing the crashworthiness of the Chevy Volt.
But wait a second. Who you callin' a dummy, anyway? These geniuses have 50 data channels, and some of the smartest ones have 100 — recording all those traumatic experiences in great numerical detail onto devices built inside them that are the size of a pack of cards.
