An analog clock with shadows for hands

This Bulbdial clock has moving minutes, hours and second hands, but it actually has no moving parts at all. How is that possible?

Well, those hands are actually just shadows cast by a series of LEDs around the edge of the clock face. When pointed at a "gnomon" that sticks up in the middle, they cast "hands" of various lengths. So rather than the hands themselves rotating, lights around the edges change to cast moving shadows that tell the time. Pretty cool stuff!
