So cool: Augmented reality pop-up books

Researchers at South Korea's Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology have come up with the next iteration of pop-up books. Using software developed over the course of three years, the group has created a book format that displays 3D characters when the reader is wearing a special pair of glasses.

The effect is so astounding that many first-time viewers seem to think this sample video is somehow being enhanced, but augmented reality fans know that this kind of technology has already hit the fast lane in terms of experimentation. You can see video of the Digilog Book in action here.
