Sending humans to the moon is expensive. Sending robots to the moon? Less expensive. So that's what NASA wants to do. Its new Project M would send humanoid robots controllable by scientists back on Earth up to the moon within 1000 days.
Since robots don't need life support, flying them into space is a much easier proposition than sending humans. Once there, they could be tightly controlled by humans back on Earth, giving them a feel for being on the moon without actually being there. Will this plan become a reality?
