Apple to add 'explicit' category for apps? (UPDATE: maybe not)

Over the past few days, the entire blogosphere has gotten its collective panties in a bunch about Apple nixing "overtly sexual" choices from its App Store. Relax, perves — some relief might be in sight. According to Cult of Mac, a developer with inside info says Apple is "adding a category called Explicit to the App Store."

Finally, we can make some sense of this crazy purge. While scores of sophomoric jiggling boobs apps were unceremoniously removed from the App Store, obvious titillaters such as Penthouse and Sports Illustrated swimsuit apps remained unscathed. A red light district for the iPhone? Makes sense to us.

UPDATE: Okay, now it doesn't makes sense again. We're hearing the "Explicit" category has been removed. Will it return?
