Nokia puts turn-by-turn navigation in 20 million phones

If you were excited that Google included turn-by-turn navigation in Android 2.0, Nokia's big move will leave you stunned: the cellphone giant today made its new Ovi Maps — with "high-end" navigation — available to 10 of Nokia smartphones, potentially reaching over 20 million phones worldwide, according the company.There's no extra charge for the maps; just download and start navigating. The move more than one-ups Google Navigation's U.S.-only service, as the new Ovi Maps will be available in 74 countries and in 46 languages.

If you were on the fence about getting an Android phone, Nokia's just given you a good reason to look the other way. Google Navigation was one of our top technologies of 2009, and we're glad to see Nokia take the idea to the next level. Your move, Google?
