Ged Galvin has a bionic bum and he uses a remote control to operate it.
The 55-year-old IT project manager from Barnsley in the U.K. was severely injured after a car crash, and as a result was forced to rely on a colostomy bag to do his business. After a little surgery, however — which saw a muscle above his knee relocated to his rear end and fitted with electrodes — a remote control tied to the muscle now allows Galvin to control his sphincter.
"They call me the man with the bionic bottom, but that doesn't bother me. My gratitude to the surgeons is endless because what they have done is a miracle," Galvin remarked. "The operation changed my life and gave me back my pride and confidence. Because of the remote control I can lead a normal life again."
