Completed Gigantor giant robot goes on display in Japan

The giant robot known as Gigantor (called Tetsujin in Japan) we mentioned back in July has finally been completed and is now on display in Kobe's Wakamatsu Park.

Standing a full 60 feet tall and weighing about 50 tons, the robot statue cost 135 million yen ($1.5 million) to build as a tourist attraction and tribute to the character's creator Mitsuteru Yokoyama. You can check out video of the enormous robot getting its finishing touches here.
