Band-zai! It's the rubber band machine gun

Complete with comedy "Bwahahahaha*" soundtrack, this little YouTube clip illustrates just how important in this world rubber band guns are. Especially when they're rubber band machine guns, such as this one, which can fire 200 rubber bands in quick succession.

Made using parts of an electric drill by a Mr Nakamura of the Japan Rubber Band Gun Shooting Association (Number of members: one**), the rubber band machine gun may not be as crazy-powerful as this home-made weapon. But something tells me it's a bit of a pacifist's dream — the device takes so long to load up its 200-odd elastic bands that it's barely worth firing a shot.

*Not sure if I've spelt that correctly, but no doubt one of our gentlemanly readers will correct me in the comments.
**Joke.
