Atlanta designer Christopher Moulder had a wild idea about a hanging lamp: why not build the bulbs into the edges of a lampshade, and make the shade conduct low-voltage electricity? The result is SHADE, a crazy-looking one-wire pendant that's fully dimmable and available in three colors.
The only problem with the design is that those 28 bulbs on the perimeter are 10-watt Xenon Festoon bulbs (whoa, that's $82.60 worth of light bulbs right there), sucking up a total of 280 watts of electricity. Chris, put some LEDs in there, and you'll have a practical design. It looks cool, too, but can you imagine how much heat all those bulbs must generate?
