Samsung plasma HDTV is reed-thin, energy efficient

Just when we thought plasma screens were going the way of the dodo (we're looking at you, Pioneer and Vizio), Samsung shows its commitment to the platform with the LED-backlit 850 and 858 PAVV. These slim screens repent the sins of their plasma predecessors, delivering extra-crispy 1080p video while weighing 20% less and using 40% less energy than those traditionally power-hungry forebears.

It's nearly as thin and beautiful as that couple of lovely models fawning all over it — so gaunt they're calling this line of TVs "Finger Slim" — which in the real world amounts to 29mm or 1.15 inches from front to back. Take your pick of a 50- or 58-inch version (opt for the latter because size really does matter), but we'll throttle our lust until Samsung announces pricing.
