Traditional wind turbines are designed for wide-open areas that get a lot of wind, which is great for the Kansas plains but less great for, well, almost everywhere else. The Optiwind Compact Wind Accelerating Turbine, however, is more more adaptable.
By using small, five-bladed fans to funnel in wind and accelerate it, it manages to get more juice out of less wind, all while taking up less space. Makes perfect sense to me. With wind being one of the most abundant resources we've got, it only makes sense to harness as much of it as possible in the most efficient way possible.
