New worm-like floor-cleaning robot threatens Roomba's dominance

We've all seen the Roomba before, but that's old news. The new in thing with floor-cleaning robots is the Fukitorimushi, an autonomous robot that crawls around like an inchworm using a super-absorbent nanofiber cloth to keep your floors sparkling.

Developed by Panasonic, the Fukitorimushi uses sensors to detect dirty spots on the floor, which is dedicates extra time to. It's not available for sale yet, but I'm looking forward to the oncoming battle between the Roomba and the Fukitorimushi to see which cleaning robot is truly the best. Hit the jump for a video of it in action.
