Look, ma — no power cord!
So you've seen gadgets before that can be powered by working a hand crank, but designer Karin Johansson of Sweden's Konstfack University has a lamp that's charged when you give it a spin. It has a dynamo on the inside of the globe that converts kinetic energy and gets its glow going. While it's a little unwieldy to have to spin the globe to produce light, seeing the lamp sitting on your desk wire-free is just plain cool.
