Do you know people who have trouble sitting still? Just think of how much energy they expend with all their fidgeting. That's exactly what artist Alice Wang thought about when she conceived this chair. Part of her "Chairs for the Dysfunctional" series, this stool made for the Constant Shaker has a digital readout on the side, which displays the calories burnt while its occupant moves around. I can see employers interviewing new recruits in "the chair," comparing their scores to see who keeps their cool the best.
Other seats in Wang's collection include a Facebook-inspired one with a kind of "status update" and — I couldn't make this up — a chair with a fart amplifier. Click through the gallery to see them all.
