Obama's BlackBerry stays; first technological battle won

After much discussion and haggling, President Obama gets to keep his BlackBerry after all. There's considerable concern about security, but he'll only be using the handheld device among a tight circle of friends, and will change his email address he's had for many years. Details are still forthcoming, including whether the device will be an actual BlackBerry or a more-secure emailing smartphone.

This bodes well for the future. This small, yet symbolic battle signals a huge change underfoot in the country's technology arena. Walking into a White House that's been mired in the techno-dark-ages for the past eight years, Obama shows that he's not going to let any lackeys, Luddites or lamers stand in the way of technological progress. Bravo!
