To combat the continued thinning out of elderly Japanese countryside farmers the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology has unveiled a new robotic power suit. Although it appears a bit ungainly, the suit weighs in at a mere 55 pounds and uses eight motors and 16 sensors to function.
The goal of the suit design was to completely eliminate the need for aging farmers to strain their joints or muscles while lifting and moving various objects. Priced at $5,000-$10,000, the suit is expected to hit the commercial market in two years.
