Open source LED-based handheld could play one psychedelic game of Pong

Say hello to the Meggy Jr RGB, a handheld, open source gaming unit that boasts plenty of color. "Wait," you cry, "LEDs? Where are my fancy graphics?" Nowhere to be found here, sir. Meggy isn't looking to replace your DS or PSP. It's for people who like to take a crack at building and programming their own units. Games on the Meggy would be simple, no doubt, but that doesn't mean they won't be fun.

The folks over at Evil Mad Scientist put the Meggy together and have everything you need to do so yourself — from parts to instructions. Evil Mad Scientist plans to launch an open source platform for the Meggy soon, so people can share what they program the unit to do. Meggy Jr RGB kits run from $65-$95 and will ship November 17th.
