Homemade USB gamepad makes portable gaming easier

Cellphones and UMPCs are perfectly powerful for some basic handheld gaming, but the trouble arises when you actually try to play games on these business-minded devices. The controls just don't feel right. You cant use a keypad for a game and have it feel natural; you need a directional key that feels like a video game controller.

An enterprising modder figured out how to make a slick little USB gamepad that works perfectly with Sony's UX UMPC, turning the tiny computer into a veritable video game machine. It allows the user to hold the UMPC with their thumb on the thumbpad, making it feel just like a dedicated game machine like a PSP. Now we just need to see things like this mass produced so the rest of us can get in on the fun.
