While we haven't had great experience with ultra-cheap camcorders, we can admire the design and ambition of the Creative Vado (if not the name — seriously, that's the best you could come up with?). The slim, super-simple cam emulates RCA's Small Wonder in many ways — most notoably the built-in USB connector for fast file transfers to a PC — but at least it improves the built-in memory to 2GB (though I think we can do better, guys). Although it records MPEG-4 video at 30 frames per second, it does it at just 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution.
Then again, what do you want for a C note? Yeah, the Vado costs a mere $100, and you can buy one (in pink or silver) today. For anyone who wants quick digital video and doesn't care about quality, this is the camcorder for you. Don't everyone on YouTube order at once.
