Pioneer headlight shoes curse the darkness with LEDs and kinetic energy
Here’s an idea that’s long overdue: running shoes with headlights. Pioneer shoes are the brainchild of designers Feijun Chen & Bin Zhao, and they not only light your path, but their batteries are charged up by your kinetic energy as you move along. The bank of LEDs is bright enough to light up an area five feet in front of you, and there's a stylish green taillight in back.
Check out the gallery below to see a diagram of all the internal paraphernalia needed to make such a concept work. Seems like a great idea for illuminating your running route, as well as alerting others to your presence. With LED tech constantly getting brighter, more efficient, cheaper and smaller, this concept might be cost effective before the decade is out.
