It's a well-established fact that lighting is the most important ingredient in producing great photos. Ortery's Photosimile 5000 is a PC-controlled light box, 360° turntable and a camera-positioning system that works with many digital cameras. The Photobox makes shadow-free pictures for websites, product catalogs, presentations, eBay and other common uses.
It's pretty straightforward — you just attach a camera to the light box while your target sits on the rotating platform in the middle, just like a microwave meal. The light box connects via USB to a Windows PC running the Photosimile software, which controls every aspect of the studio: from the camera's tilt to the speed of the turntable, even your camera's setting. Of course not everything you want to shoot will fit in a box, but for items that do this makes a lot of sense. No pricing info is available yet, but the photosimile will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in January.
