Gun cameras to keep cops a bit more honest

Not that I don't trust cops with their firearms, but this strikes me as a pretty great idea: the Newburgh Police Department is going to start sticking cameras on the barrels of cops' guns. They'll automatically start recording audio and video when the gun is drawn, adding a new layer of responsibility and culpability to cops, creating a set-in-stone record of exactly what happened when they fired off their rounds.

They're doing a $35,000 trial of the cameras, and if it works out, they'll be added to all police weapons. It should make questioning police shooting tactics a little less of a he-said-she-said affair.
