Belkin's Acrylic Case for iPhone a no-show in New York, might be redesigned
Belkin stopped by New York yesterday to show off its latest new toys, including a pretty cool router and a sweet USB hub as well as some iPhone accessories, shown in the picture above. Notice the empty space in the middle? That's where Belkin's Acrylic Case for the iPhone should be, but the company decided not to show it after reports emerged online that some iPhones got dinged inside it because the fit is too loose.
Leo Cheng, a product marketing manager for Belkin, explained to me last night that, "it's actually a really good case, but you need to fasten the six pressure points on the edges for it to work properly. We didn't do a very good job of explaining that on the packaging." Although reps for Belkin told me that the company has pulled the product from its lineup for the time being pending a revision of the packaging or a redesign of the case, Belkin's site still lists it for sale on its site.
But let's get to what everyone's wondering about — how does this affect our contest winners from last week, each of which won a case? They'll still be getting their prizes, just with an added instruction on how to use it properly. And the plus side to all this is that it's reminded us to announce the winners, which we totally forgot to do. Whoops — coming up later today, guys!
