Xbox 360 gets an update, newfangled keyboard controller

Xbox 360 owners are going to find that their gaming machine has a few new features in the near future, as Microsoft has a spring update in the works that will add MSN messenger functionality and a sleep downloading mode. The downloading mode will allow you to shut down most of the console when you're downloading games or updates and then have it shut itself completely off when the downloads are complete.

The messenger features should be made more functional with the above QWERTY keyboard controller attachment, due to hit stores this summer. While it looks kind of awkward for gaming, it should make entering text a heck of a lot easier than using that blasted on-screen keyboard. Look for the update to hit Xboxes everywhere around May 7th.
