Emerson turns your iPod into a karaoke machine for $30
We've seem some feeble attempts at iPod karaoke before, but we're willing to give this new one, from venerable brand Emerson, a fair shot. The gist is you get a microphone that connects via cables to both your iPod and your home theater system. Now songs from your iPod blare out from the speakers with lyrics on your TV screen (or iPod) that you can sing along with. The catch is that in order to use special MP4 files that you download for $2 a pop. That's not too big a deal, and we weren't expecting much for $30, but what are these things called wires?
UPDATE: Based on inaccurate information from an Emerson rep at the show, this post originally said you had the option of ripping special videos from a DVD before putting on them your iPod, but we are now told that the only way to get the special files is to download them. The DVD pictured here is for a separate but similar product that connects between a DVD player and a TV.
