The Bacterial Orchestra is a really amazing looking art installation that creates a dynamic, "living" musical composition. Comprised of a series of "cells" that have both a microphone and a loudspeaker, it's programmed to have every cell try to synch up with the other cells. Each cell is a bit different in how it reacts to sounds around it, so the entire piece is constantly shifting and reacting to everything going around. As people move through it, talking and making footsteps, the orchestra changes in real time.
This is awesome. It's only been set up once, and that was in December in Sweden. Bring it over here, friends! I would personally love to be surrounded by sound that was almost alive… it sounds like an idea that would be totally trippy and cool. Let's make it happen.
