The Eclipse: One hot cell phone, hold the extras

If you think cameras, video, and the Internet have no place on a cell phone, designer Rune Larsen is right there with you. His Eclipse slider phone gets rid of any and all features besides calling, keeping the size down to just a couple of inches with the screen retracted. The screen is also an old-school black-and-white LCD, which helps extend the battery life.

At least it would if the Eclipse wasn't merely a slick concept design. Still, we welcome any and all sexy gadgets, though this phone is definitely for simplicity purists who don't want muck with the DNA of their gadgets (phone is for calling, iPod is for music, and never the twain shall meet). It's a way to go, and at least in this case the result is eye-catching.
