NEC and Takara have unveiled the TYPE-N01 notebook, a computer designed to look like it came from some underground military base or something. How edgy! It comes with scary-looking additions like a self-destruct button and fingerprint scanner and has some not-exactly-breathtaking horsepower under the hood: a 1.6-GHz AMD Sempron processor, 1 GB of RAM, and an 80- or 100-GB hard drive round out this laptop of questionable merit. Only 300 are being made worldwide, which sounds like about the number of people who would get excited at the chance of downloading music while feeling like a general. You 300 people will be shelling out $1,231 for the right to own this ugly and poorly conceived contraption. — Adam Frucci
