The iLamp: Desktop music with no desktop

It might come as a surprise to many, but there was a time when the desk wasn't just the place where you use a computer. Yes, desks have a variety of other purposes, such as actually reading a book or writing a letter. Unfortunately, they also tend to be easily cluttered and lack proper lighting. Worse still, if you don't have a computer, how can you listen to your digital music? Adesso's plan for keeping you lit up and rockin' on a PC-free desk is the iLamp Collection (starting at $89). Each lamp features an adjustable neck, while a range of bulb designs is available to fit your needs. More important, the iLamp features a pair of built-in speakers and a dock for your iPod, though you can plug in other players, too — anything with a headphone jack, really. There are even versions of the iLamp Collection that include desktop organizers so you have a place for your pens, clips and other small items. Paper pushers, as well as those who want to take back their desks from their chunky PCs, can finally rejoice.
